MATERIALS + CARE

Resin

Our resin is created from the run-off of plants.  Resin is durable and non-toxic.  To keep it looking beautiful, avoid long-term exposure to sun as colors may fade.

If your resin needs cleaning, follow these at home simple instructions:

  • Gently rub your piece by hand in soapy warm water
  • Dry with a soft cloth

Thrifted Pieces

We don't always know the exact composition of our thrifted pieces but what we do know is thrifted is best for the planet.  Since almost all of our thrifted finds are vintage, we assume as we up-cycle them that they will continue to last a long time.

Gold-Filled

Our gold-filled jewelry is a layer of gold bonded to recycled brass.  Each piece is comprised of at least 60% recycled metals.  Gold-filled jewelry can last up to 30 years and is a great choice if you have sensitive skin.  How to keep it looking great:

  • Avoid chlorine and salt water
  • When needed, clean with soapy water & gentle toothbrush
  • Dry off and polish with jeweler's cloth

Sterling Silver .925

Our sterling silver jewelry is comprised of 92.5% silver.  The recycled metals in each piece is between 60% and 100%.  Sterling silver jewelry can last up to 30 years and is a great choice if you have sensitive skin.  How to keep it looking great:

  • Store in an airtight container
  • Avoid water, especially chlorine and salt water
  • Limit contact with perfumes, lotions and hair products
  • Once a month clean with soapy water & gentle toothbrush
  • Dry off and polish with jeweler's cloth

Sterling silver can tarnish over time, which is common.  Here’s how to restore it at home to it's original beauty:

  • Layer a small bowl with aluminum foil
  • Add 1 cup of boiling water and 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • Immerse the silver in the water and let sit for 1-5 minutes
  • Remove silver with kitchen tongs and rinse under cold water
  • Dry off and polish with a jeweler's cloth

Patina

Our patina jewelry is made with recycled sterling silver per the above. We oxidize the metal which turns it a dark matt color.  How to keep it looking great:

  • Avoid water, besides cleaning
  • Limit contact with perfumes, lotions and hair products
  • Don’t rub it harshly with a cloth or it will become shiny

Patina needs less cleaning, but when it does, here’s what to do:

  • Clean with soapy water by hand
  • Gently pat dry with a soft cloth

Brass

All of our brass items contain at least 60% recycled metals.  Brass is a great price point and as beautiful as gold.  The downside, it tarnishes more quickly and if you have sensitive skin you should avoid brass.  All metals tarnish over time, but you can keep your brass looking great for decades:

  • Store in an airtight container
  • Avoid getting it wet as brass and water don’t mix well
  • Limit contact with perfumes, lotions and hair products
  • Once a month gently clean with jeweler's cloth

When it starts to tarnish – a normal process – here’s how to restore it at home:

  • Put 1 cup of water in a bowl
  • Squeeze juice from ½ a lemon into the water
  • Stir ½ teaspoon of salt into the lemon water until dissolved
  • Soak your brass until you see it reach cleanliness (around 5 minutes)
  • Rinse thoroughly with water
  • Gently dry and then polish with a jeweler's cloth
